I’m Susan Kendig, a writer and mother of three children age 18, 13 and, hold your breath, age 5. My family and I live in Southern California, Orange County, to be precise, with our uber-hyper dog, Harley. Of course, what home would be complete without a spazzy dog to liven it up?
Just picture our family as a circle of chaos and then a bundle of raw energy, Harley, orbiting us. I don’t watch “The Real Housewives of Orange County” much. I figure my daily family adventure is enough reality for me and for the most part I like it but occasionally when things get a bit out of control I like to refer to myself as an O.C. refuge.
Although I’ve lived in California over 20 years, I spent my childhood days in Western Canada, and later a decade in Arizona before moving to Southern California. It’s true, I started out as a reluctant Californian, but after twenty some years of living here, some of that time in Northern California, I’ve truly grown to appreciate the diversity of this state and everything it has to offer.
I like to glam-up once in a while for a night out but I do love my jeans and t-shirts and, if I had my way, I’d be living in my flip flops every day of the year.
My professional credentials include graduating from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University (go Sun Devils). In the past, I’ve worked mainly as a PR person which means I’ve written a truckload of press releases and other such nonsense . . . nothing too inspiring.
MotherMuse is a California-lifestyle blog. I’ll be covering everything Californian including the many adventures of my family, some unique to Californians while others universally understood.
Enjoy!
