IMG 4704 All in a Day at Laguna Beach

Laguna Beach

Although there are many, many things to do and see in Laguna Beach, we visited for just one day . . . without kids.

It was a gorgeous afternoon and we cruised down the 133 with our sunroof open and fun music on our Ipod wishing that we had a convertible.

My husband made late lunch reservations at the Beach House. Its name says it all as this restaurant, which has been around since the 60′s, features a great view of the ocean while you dine. I enjoyed the best tasting omelet ever, its flavor matched only by its exquisite presentation – kudos to the chef.

We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around town. There are many great little shops and art galleries to browse. If you feel like walking on the beach, Main Beach is centrally located. You can stroll on the boardwalk or get your toes wet along the surf.

If you have kids, there is a great playground, public restrooms, and even a toy store close to the beach in case you need some sand toys or other fun stuff. Right across from Main Beach is Johnny Rockets, a fun, family friendly 50′s diner.

During our walk, we found a great little ice cream shop, Gelato Paradiso. As I devoured my double chocolate, vanilla something or other, I thought I had died and gone to ice cream heaven.

The worst part about the day is that it ended all too soon. But I know for sure that we’ll be back and next time we’ll bring the kids.

Visiting Laguna Beach usually takes a little planning and a lot of patience. Whether you take Pacific Coast Highway or the 133 you will be stuck in traffic so leave extra time if you have lunch or dinner reservations.

If you think you might be parking on the street, bring quarters for the meter. There is free street parking available in surrounding residential areas if you don’t mind the walk. Read all the parking signs carefully as parking restrictions vary and you must have a permit to park in some neighborhoods. There is also a small public parking structure just off PCH but it is often full.

Enjoy!
